If your kids are like mine, they’re very reluctant to get rid of any of their toys, even ones they haven’t played with in years. I’ve found that a week or two before Christmas is the best time to convince my kids to part with a few toys. Here’s why:
With the expectation of presents coming in the near future, they agree with my assertion that they need to make some room for new toys.
There is one more reason why I think this is the best time of year to get rid of toys. Now I’ll admit I’m a sucker for nostalgia, and I also acknowledge that most kids’ toys can be enjoyed by multiple siblings. But if you and your kids can part with your toys, please think about donating them (if they’re still in good condition) to a toy drive or other charitable cause. Considering the cause has made it easier for my kids – and I – to part with our treasures and feel great about it.
